Urban Knights vs Majesty Gardens

The defending champions Urban Knights took another step towards retaining their title with a convincing 75-63 victory over fourth seeded Majesty Gardens. In a game that saw lots of action at both ends of the court against the boards, the Knights used their twin towers of Andrew Whilby (6’8)  and Oneil Mundle (6’9) to great benefits as together they grabbed 10 and 21 rebounds respectively to sap the strength of the smaller Majesty players. Majesty fell into the trap that 23 opponents fell into during the regular season of trying to run and gun with the Knights and paid dearly, as after quarter scores of 21-13, 12-22, 21-22 they could only score 9 to the Knights 18 in the final quarter and lost the game. The more physical and better conditioned Knights forced Majesty into making a number of bad shots which led to numerous fast breaks that killed whatever energy the smaller Majesty players had remaining during the latter stages of the game. With their centre Barrington Berry injuring his ankle during the game and star players Baldon Todd and Kemar McLeish going down with cramps and groin problems Majesty could only watch as the Knights sped to a deserved victory. Andy Smith led the scoring for the Knights with 23points, 5rebounds and 4assists with support from Omar Barnes 13points, 8rebounds, 3assists. Majesty’s consistent duo of Todd and McLeish led their scoring with 22points and 20points respectively. Barrington Berry had 13points and 15rebounds.
